Goals
Music is a universal language. It is a magical tool for dialogue whose emotional element inspires all people equally regardless of religion, language, race, age or gender.
Education in this universal language in early childhood creates tremendous social transformation and development in children, teenagers and their families. Just like reading a book, if not more, playing an instrument enables people to discover their personal limits and helps them develop better self-expression.
Moreover, when teenagers interact with each other through music, not only are they encouraged to be more creative and tolerant but they are also inspired to clarify their thoughts. Music helps them develop a totally new and faster thinking system based on unity of the mind and the soul.
With these notions in mind, we have launched the G&S Pekinel Music Department project at TEVİTÖL High school for Exceptionally Talented Students more than 3 years ago to reactivate music education which was abandoned in most schools.
“Jung Musicians on World Stage” projectis in this sense an extension of the first project.
While TEVİTÖL’s project aims to improve the quality of music education to today’s world standarts, “Jung Musicians on World Stage” project helps professionally educated instrumentalists to develop and excel their own unique artistic identities to compete with world standards.
We believe that Turkey has been deficient in this domain for the last two decades. The “Child Prodigy Act” of 1948 has become dysfunctional since a commission has not been formed for a decade. Consequently, this has dramatically hindered the progress of the professional careers of our talents who are in great need of this support. Unfortunately, a well-organized private initiative has not yet been formed for this purpose. Young talents who try to map their own way do not only suffer because they are denied the moral and material support, but also because they have extremely limited access to knowledge, experience and information about music education, its platforms and its markets in the world.
Bearing this in mind, we have developed an initiative in cooperation with Onduline Avrasya- an art and music sponsor- in order to find these talents and help them reach the right assistance for their specific individual needs. Our ultimate goal is to collect these outstanding young talents under the roof of this project.
In this context, our first aim is to focus on the conservatories in 6 cities which offer intensive music education and to identify the best among their students by audition. After Izmir and Istanbul, we will continue with Ankara, Eskişehir, Antalya and Mersin, and organize auditions to select the best in the piano, violin, cello, flute, and clarinet as well as in composition with a jury composed of the department heads of resident orchestras in these cities.
The young talents who succeed in these auditions and who can potentially participate in the international arena will be able to benefit from the opportunities we offer and attend master’s and summer courses with well known Masters of their fields in Europe and the U.S.A. They will also have the opportunity to prepare themselves to participate in important international competitions.
