Ege Banaz was born in Izmir in 1991. At the age of 15 he began studying the clarinet at Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in Izmir.
In the same year, he was accepted in to the Doğuş Youth Symphony Orchestra and continued to perform with them until 2009. In 2010 he performed as a soloist with Eskişehir and Izmir State Symphony Orchestras and in concerts given by the University of Minnesota and the Twinports Wind Ensemble. After being awarded a scholarship as part of the “Young Musicians for World Stages” project initiated and mentored by Güher & Süher Pekinel, sponsored by Tüpraş in 2010, he successfully completed the master class of Prof. Yves Sévère within the festival “Les Rencontres Musicales Internationales des Graves” and won first prize at the “Marsyas International Clarinet Competition”. Ege Banaz has participated in master classes of many renowned musicians, including Prof. Nicolas Baldeyrou and Prof. Guy Dangain in Izmir.
After graduating from Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory as Ender Gülenler’s student in 2011, he continued his studies in Germany at the “Hochschule für Musik Detmold” with Prof. Thomas Lindhorst within the ”Young Musicians on World stages” project.
In 2012, Banaz toured with the “Turkish Youth Philharmonic Orchestra” led by Cem Mansur and the “Animato Orchestra” led by Howard Griffiths. In the same year he was awarded the first prize at the GWK Music competition. Beside many recital concerts, he was invited to perform with the “World Peace Orchestra” in New York in 2013 and in the 2014-15 season, he will be continuing his doctorate studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Detmold with Prof. Thomas Lindhorst.
